Differentiation and the Power of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills Framework Skills students will need for college and career readiness include global awareness and critical thinking - with and without technological tools. How widely are these embedded within instructional delivery and learning? This session will delve into strategies to improve the effectiveness of current practices within the whole learning environment. We will define differentiation and provide educators with strategies to meet the needs of all students.
30 Free Web 2.0 Tools During this presentation we explore 30 different web 2.0 tools. Each tool has an informational page that includes a description of the tool, the URL where the tool is located, a video tutorial, classroom uses for the tool, and other resources. The tools are organized by type and the 21st Century Learning and Innovation Skill(s) is also identified. These include critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication.
Capturing Student Voices in the World Language Classroom The new North Carolina Essential Standards for World Language are now based on proficiency. This means that being able to hear students produce the target language is more important than ever before. Using technology to capture student voices allows teachers to efficiently listen to and grade student speaking proficiency. Using technology also allows students to share their work with the world.
Moving Toward Global Education As we prepare students for college and career, knowledge of the world is invaluable. What are we doing to foster global awareness and global empathy in our classrooms? What responsibility do educators in North Carolina have to teach students about the world? During this session we will share ideas for moving toward global education and we will examine the Final Report of the State Board of Education's Task Force on Global Education.
QR Crazy QR codes, or Quick Response codes, have many uses in the K-12 classroom. During this session we will explore some of these uses and experiment with the creation of QR codes.
EVAAS Advanced Users Accessing reports in EVAAS can provide administrators and teachers with a wealth of data. However, the data are not powerful until they are used to improve classroom instruction. This session will give participants the opportunity review reports in EVAAS, explore and create resources to help improve instruction based on the results of EVAAS reporting, and collaborate around scenarios based on EVAAS data.
EVAAS Customized This training is the last in the series of EVAAS training opportunities we have offered during the 2012-2013 school year. The training was built based on feedback from prior participants. Our goal is to offer you an opportunity to work with your own data and to understand how the customization of your data can inform and improve practice.
21st Century Classroom - Critical Thinking and Creativity 21st Century Classroom - Communication and Collaboration The 21st Century Skills presentation provides an overview of the Framework for 21st Century Learning. Through hands-on activities, participants will identify 21st century skills in a classroom setting and participate in brainstorming ideas for inclusion of 21st century skills across all disciplines. In addition, the Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge model (TPACK) will reinforce the importance of evaluating technology use and effective integration.
Developing a 21st Century Lesson Plan Although we are 13 years into the 21st century, many classrooms still do not reflect ideals and pedagogy defined in the P21 Framework. This session will address creating a contemporary classroom culture and redefining the lesson plan to engage students and prepare them for the demands of college and career. Come prepared to share your most innovative instructional strategies.
NCEES 2B and 3C: What does global awareness look like in the classroom? As our world becomes increasingly more interconnected, it is important for our students to engage with other nations and cultures. This session will provide administrators with a deep look at the P21 framework definition of global awareness and give examples of how it is integrated into the classroom.
UNCC First 3 The purpose of this session is to provide new teachers with resources to help in the classroom and a way to organize those resources. Participants will explore content-related resources and explore ways to organize these resources.
